Another one for video Can't Post

Hi All:
Just wanted to share this one all. We just did a Bride interview tonight, don't know if we got the job or not yet (but think we did). Anyway she told us she wanted a great video and she was skimping on the photographer to get it. Chalk one more up for the video guys/gals.

Re: Another one for video Can't Post

We've experienced this more and more lately - one recently told us that her friend (who referred her to us) had convinced her to do spend less on pics and invest in a video/DVD b/c she (the former bride) watched and appreciated her video waaaay more than her pics.
I love when brides tell us they haven't picked up their albums yet b/c they don't care or haven't gotten around to it. "I have the video and the proofs - I almost don't care about the album." My response is: "SPREAD THE WORD!"
I like to agree with potential brides and say something like, "Proofs are great b/c they are portable and you can hang enlargments on your wall - but your video fills in the gaps - with sound, with music, with your voices... Video tells the WHOLE story." And think about it, if you come home from a busy day and you want to relax and be entertained, what are you more likely to do - turn on the TV and put in a video, or look at a picture book.... And I point out how you will almost never find a picture of wedding vows or cake cutting hanging on a wall, but you'll watch it on video a thousand times. (I also mention this part when I stress how important it is for the photographer to cooperate during these events. We don't interfere with his/her photo shoot b/c those are the money shots. Just the same, vows, the ceremony, dances, and other reception formalities are OUR action shots. All we ask for is the same respect.)
Why am I telling you all this? I'm sure YOU know! Sorry, I forget... I'm so used to preaching to B&G's. ;o)
Thanks
-Jenn

Video is getting popular... [In reply to] Can't Post

Yesterday, I got a call from a groom and they said they would like to take my Diamond package because they want to put more emphasis on the video than the pictures. He asked me if I can take digital shots from my video so I can put them on a CD to be sent out to friends. I said to him yes. But I told him that they shouldn't think that quality would be the same. Pictures made by high-quality 35mm film camera are still the way to go for portraits and for hanging on the walls. So, I offered him our digital photography plus diamond videography into one nice package.

It may be starting to spread across the globe. . . .here in New Zealand I just booked a bride who also was only interested in a professional video. She said they had lots of guests with still camera's who could get plenty of pictures, but they definitely wanted a decent video of their day. First time thats happened to me. . . . .may there be many more:-)

Re: Another one for video [In reply to] Can't Post

I was cashing some business checks at my bank and the teller asked if I was a videographer. When I said yes she said her sister was getting married and could she have one of my cards? Of course!! She then went on to say that when she was married last year (teller) she didn't have a professional do the taping and she regrets it BIG TIME! She said she won't let her sister make the same mistake. How cool is that? :) It pays to walk into the bank with checks rather than drive thru. LOL
