I don't know about the speed of CF cards, all I know is that SxS is ridiculously fast. Today's best CF cards are rated at 40 MB/sec (320 Mbps) sustained read/write speed, while SxS is rated at 100 MB/sec (800 Mbps). Both are more than adequate for typical HD recording formats and fast file transfers, so it's only specialty tasks like over/under cranking which require higher bandwidth. With all the flash-based video cameras coming to market, you'd think one of the manufacturers would figure out to make an affordable fixed-lens 3-chip model using CF recording. Panasonic's the closest with their little hand-held model using SD cards, but I think that records AVCHD and the camera may have other limitations. All we really need is a V1U or an XH-A1 with a CF recorder attached, but instead we're getting a variety of experimental designs which don't quite hit the mark. As far as low-light sensitivity is concerned, the EX1 has just enough to be admirable so it's hard to see how the Z7U could do as well with a smaller sensor based on the same technology. It may come close enough to be useful, but even the EX1 strains a little in really dark settings.
