How many of you were notified that you are on the list of
2007 Pick: The Knot Best of Weddings?

If you have been notified, answer with the market you are in.

I have a suspicion about this "Award" but I can't be sure until there is a poll done.

Can't recall that one Dave; but keep receiving junk from this "A-List" nonsense.

It appears they want you to be their FREE marketing force (promoting wisn and driving people to their website) in exchange for "awarding" you this distinktion. Wink They also want you to consider advertising with them. The only merits of a contest I see from this, is from their end and seeing how much advertising dollars they can raise.

i was not notified. a plaque arrived in the mail while i was out of town and that's how we found out. i'm shocked that they actually gave a plaque.

I thought everyone was...I think it's a marketing trick like John suggests. I remember deleting some email or trashing some snail mail from them.

The knotty forum loves me here...I don't need awards or ad space on their website...I just keep making great videos at a low price and I'll keep the knotty business coming in.Wink

Had a great time with you and the other GPVA party animals in Vegas! I'm glad some things stay in Vegas. Angelic Look forward to seeing you all in Orlando.

Anyways... So how are the Knot Awards chosen? Did they tell you? Are they voted on by all the Knotty's or are they just picked out of the lineup of advertisers? Just curious because because I wonder about some of the ones (not necessarily Videographers) in our area of how they were chosen.

Dave....we got one and were notified via mail a few months ago. Then we got the magazine about two months ago and the plaque last month. Of course my times could be waaaay off since days and weeks are blurring together! LOL!! One other videographer in our area also 'won'. I haven't advertised with them for about 3 years and I don't think the other guy in our market has ever advertised. There are not many videographers on the Seattle vendor page. Methinks your suspicions are right! :)

Then I received that same plaque a few weeks back. Funny thing is though, I'm one of the higher priced guys in my market so don't get too many knotties calling these days. They may think I'm one of the best, they just don't want to spend the cash to hire me, I guess.

The knot asked all of their brides to vote on their best vendors.Those that were notified are the ones that the brides voted for. It wasn't any kind of competition or a comprehensive look at anyones work it was just a tell us who your favorite vendors were. If you had alot of Knot brides and they liked you than you got votes. It wasn't all about your work. I know some vendors who do very basic and questionable work yet they were voted for because their brides liked them. Maybe they have great customer service. So if you got one than your Knottie brides liked you. I believe they are going to do this every year now, 2007 was the first.

I just received a call last week informing me I had been selected for the 2008 Best of. I don't have any brides that are Knotties (that I am aware of). I guess I can put the plaque next to my Chamber of Commerce plaque Blush

Well maybe you have some Knotties and don't know it. I am curious though if anyone who got one in 07 got one in 08. I have not been notified so maybe I don't have so many happy brides anymore or maybe they are just randomly picking companies to try to get some more advertising.I usually have a decent amount of Knot brides so who knows.

The trick is not just to have a knottie bride, but to have a knottie bride who is attention hungry, and I know Dave has one of those. She went as far as to start her own wedding planning company and Robert Allen had her on his podcast network. The wedding company failed and because she went back on the knot and tried to now solicit business the knotties quickly turned against her.

I have a bride who is attention hungry in N. Jersey so one of those plaques could be on my doorstep any day now.
