Where I can find a good dup house to make multiple DVD copies with good prices? Is a miniDV master ok for them to make copies?
Thanks

Re: DVD copies Can't Post

Some places will accept Mini-DV,but the bigger questions would be the number of copies that you want, the format you desire(-R or +R),do you want Menus and Chapters, if so how many chapters, and do you want labels included?
If you want the chapters, you would have to include the time code numbers for each tape, and generally speaking you would have to pay more for the first authored DVD and the copies would drop down considerably. Basis DVDs would of course be cheapter for the first DVD but the copies would be same as other copies. And of course some will give you a better deal the more copies you order.
And last, what would you want to pay for this service ?

Re: DVD copies [In reply to] Can't Post

Well I don't want a lot of magic in this copies. Could be straight copies with labels. I don't know if -R or +R. Only the ones ala Blockbuster format. The Master is from a graduation.
I search the WEB but couldn't find a good place. I remember Moore DVD in one of the WEVA meetings but I couldn't find it.

"Only the ones ala Blockbuster format"
Hector,
The Blockbuster format is produced in an entirely different way than recordable DVD media (DVD-R, -RW, +R, +RW). Because Hollywood producers work with HUGE budgets and expect HUGE returns in unit sales, they have glass master discs made and all the copies that you buy or rent from Blockbuster (or any other video rental store) are pressed from the glass master. They are not "recordable" discs in the usual sense. And these glass masters are ENORMOUSLY expensive...into the thousands and possibly tens-of-thousands of dollars to make.
Unless you are planning to sell several hundred thousand copies of this graduation video, you'll have to settle for one of the 4 recordable formats I mentioned above. As far as duplication houses that do this kind of work...look in the back of "Videography" magazine for several ads from reputable dup houses.

What you say about larger runs being produced from glass masters is correct, but your prices are a little high. There is a plant here in Calgary charging $4.46 per disc for quantities of 300 to 499 copies, glass master and two-color silkscreening included. Glass master only is $400.
