Dual Monitors With Vegas? Help Needed! Can't Post

Looking at a new computer and have a few questions.

1) Does anyone run a dual monitor setup with vegas? How does it work? It would be great to watch the previews as you edit on the second monitor.

2) It seems like the overwhelming opinion is to stay with XP and not venture to Vista... if that is the case, are you guys staying with 4:3 Monitors or going to widescreen monitors? Does this screw up your editing when it is stretching it wide?

We are looking at either doing a dual 22" widescreen or one 22" widescreen for main, and an older 19" 4:3 for our previews for now. Thoughts?

THe computer in our sites is a Dell Vostro 400 Quad Core 2.4 with 4gb and 256mb geforce... Missing anything?

I use a dual 28" and 22" for preview. You basically set it to preview on external monitor. Vegas handles it very well. You can definitely get away with the 19" for preview. Using the 2nd monitor for preview makes a huge difference. You can use a 4:3 monitor and set preview for either 4:3 or 16:9. Obviously if you are going to purchase a new monitor it should be wide. This set up is great for editing however not ideal for color correcting.

Before I switched over to one 47" LCD monitor for editing, I was using 2 smaller monitors for editing. Basically I filled one of the screens with the timeline and used the second for preview and for my color scopes. When I first started using 2 monitors I stretched the timeline over both screens but I found that I got confused sometimes when I zoomed into a clip that crossed over the 2 monitors.
