Firewire IEEE and SVHS imports (VEGAS VIDEO) Can't Post

Most HP CPUs have a firewire these days for NLE systems, now the question I have is: how do you import your old S-VHS or VHS footage into your NLE software?
Is there an adaptor that can be placed between the IEEE and S-VHS or RCA for Audio and Video imports?
Would Vegas Video 4.0 support VHS as well or only digital?

Canopus, and a few other companies make anologue to digital converters. Also, many cameras and dvdecks have a "pass through" feature, meaning you can input your analogue video into the inputs of the camera, and it will allow you to capture it as dv through the firewire out into your IEEE card and capture software.

Another option would be to use your digital camera as a pass through converter. Many of the newer MiniDV cameras have pass through. Hook up the analog source to the analog inputs, hook up your firewire cable and the signal should pass right through. There may be a few camera menu setting you have set to make this work. If not you could always plug in to your MiniDV camera analog in and just dub a copy then import via firewire. This is time consuming and create wear and tear but it works.

Same answers as above
Vegas does not suport analog you have to convert to digital before importing.

I have been unsuccessful in using Vegas' capture utility to capture AV/DV pass through. It keeps wanting a tape in the camera. Any tips?

In the capture utilities go to options>preferences>general
Uncheck enable device control (its the first box).
