This was discussed at length in the Sony forums. It certainly is unique.

It's priced at $279, with the ink cartridge being $40. It says you can expect to print 100 discs at 600 dpi before the cartridge needs replacing. Printing ranges from 1 min to 3 mins based on the quality.

I'd love to hear from someone when they get one of these.

I must have missed the discussion....

...I was thumbing through a TigerDirect flyer (just before tossing it) and came across the ad. I too would like to hear how it compares to what is out there.

Seems weird that it spins so fast while printing. You'd think it would just come out all smeared.

Saw it at Macworld. Seemed expensive & slow. Printed disks looked good, but not any better than Epson printed disks. Printing times were generally closer to 3 mins than 1.

Fascinating technology, though, and I like the small footprint. This is something I might consider buying when my R300 bites the dust.

I have one and love it. It is so much easier to just drop a cd in and print it out real fast. Some canvas or backdrops can come out with circles on them, even on best mode, but doing photos on the DVDs for weddings and stuff look great. So you just have to be careful on the backdrop you pick. I usually keep them simple with the couples names, the date and a title like "Our Reception" or "Our Ceremony". But the ease of use is great. It is really great for a quick label of just text for storage discs and software back-ups. But it is really great for sending out a single "Proof" copy to the couple to approve before I burn and print the final copies. It makes the "Proof" copy look very professional too.
