However, I found the constant zooming in this clip very distracting, more so during the speech at the beginning. I'm assuming this was a conscious decision but it left me wondering if you were having a problem with your camera. Haha. No sir, I assure you, all problems are the fault of the pilot. Good time to think about why I do what I do instead of taking it for granted. The ceremony is the only point in the day in which I lock down and keep it consistent - everywhere else, I'm always taking opportunities to reframe (subtle promo) to get a better framed shot. Since I am heavy on voice over, when I shoot toasts, framing isn't my first priority. the whip pans and snap zooms during dancing - i feel like a photographer, looking for the perfect fraction of a second since my cuts in the final edit are usually no longer than 2 seconds. so i'll stay with someone, get what I need, then move on, recording continuously. i find that it communicates the frentic, energetic feel of the dancing better. but if i had a choice, i'd like to lock it down on legs and shoot it old Soul Train Line style, allowing dancers to move into my frame, show their moves, then move out. jones How to become a better filmmaker blog Mason Jar My blog
