Re: [Edit 1 Media] Jewelboxing [In reply to] Can't Post

Hey Laura,

A quick question for you... I just received the demo cases in the mail and they look great. I was just wondering (and I apologize if someone already asked this - I didn't go back and re-read all the posts), do you use video stills for artwork or do you get shots from the photographer...? I've been using video stills but I use smaller images that don't fill up the entire page as they have in their sample. I really like the way it looks with the whole page printed but I'm afraid a video still will look pretty bad at that size. Just wondering what you do...

thanks,

Lee

Frankly, I full color print the DVD and put it into the case and that's it. No inserts.

I did that for a little small charity project I delivered this week and I thought they looked really good that way. I'm contemplating on just doing this now. Not sure yet. The client absolutely loved the discs in the clear boxes.Smile

Except, as was pointed out to me during a series of critiques of my submitted finished product, no title on the spine makes it difficult to identify what's inside. Inserts allow for something to go there when cases are stored in a vertical position on the shelf.

I'm really looking forward to receiving the sample I ordered, and working with these if they prove truly better in application and appearance over the flexible, slim, clear, insert sleeve cases I presently use (from edgewise media). They are soooooo affordable and virtually indestructible.

TongueTongueTongueTongueTongueTongue Well, I could say that there may not be any other cases like these in the B/G's Library. The black cases, well, they'd blend in with all the rest.

Re: [corelann] Jewelboxing [In reply to] Can't Post

I just got my sample in today's mail. FYI, the inserts (note plural), are separate for the back and front. The back one fits behind the snap-out disc holder, just like a standard CD jewel box, and also has folded "flaps" for all 4 edges of the case, so you can still place a title on the spine, and leave the front "insert/booklet" out to reveal the disc sitting behind the clear front cover.

I'm quite impressed with the build quality including the disc hub...it holds the disc quite securely in place with no rotation. When my current supply of standard white DVD cases runs low, I may order some of these.

I'm anxious to get my sample. I know they're higher priced, but it looks like they surpass others in quality.

Re: [MarshallM] Jewelboxing [In reply to] Can't Post

Marshall...you can actually even put two DVDs on the hub, which is very useful for some people.

Oh, one other thing I just thought of. The cases WILL get scratched if not handled properly so be careful of that.

There is also an online gallery at the jewelboxing.com website to get some ideas. Some people have even put small items like tic-tacs or confetti in the spine which is kind of cool.

I just received an email from them yesterday that said my sample was on the way. Apparently their promotion was a bit overwhelming.

Way to go, Laura. Cool

I bought a case of Super Jewel Boxes, and have only packaged one job with them so far.

I kept two copies on the shelf to use for demo, and a big chunk of the spline is already broke off one of the Super Jewel Boxes. I don't know how I did it...it's only came off the shelf ONCE when I was showing the case as a demo to a potential client. Crazy

I've been looking for an alternative to regular DVD cases, something clear that I wouldn't have to make inserts for, when packaging my cheap videos. (Making case inserts is a waste of time with a $800 video.Laugh) But I think I'm going to have to go with something more durable, like a clear Amaray knockoff case.

I've had one or two crack but for the most part if you handle them normally (i.e. not throwing them at your cats when you are drunk) then they've held up great for me. :) I bet they will replace it if you call them. They are pretty good about things like that.

Re: [Mark Foley] Jewelboxing [In reply to] Can't Post

You are welcome, Mark. I'm glad you like them and hope they work out well for you. Now that I've got my templates down pat, I absolutely love them! Occasionally I've had a few ordering issues (once they put in too many inserts versus booklets then accidentally sent back the regular size ones instead of the king size for replacements) but I try to keep extras on hand at all times just in case something like that happens. Actually I try to do that for all our consumables anyway. But they are really good people with a great product. When I was in Chicago last week I was hoping to stop by their offices (and they were welcoming us with open arms!) but just didn't have the time. Maybe next time! Anyway, thanks for the thanks. ;)

These cases are so cool! I was lucky enough to find out about them before my first wedding back in '06. So far all my weddings are in these cases, I love the uniformity. Smile

I received my sample yesterday. All I can say is wow! This is so much nicer than just the standard DVD case. As someone just getting started in the business, this type of information is great!

Thanks,
