Monopods Can't Post

Curious to see who uses monopods...I'm beginning to think I can place myself farther away from B/G at reception and zoom w/use of monopod to posistion myself farther away from them...while maintaining better stability with the use of the pod....
Thoughts....
Thanks in advance....

I use one for the ceremony and the reception. It allows me to be farther away during the first dance than I could if I went hand held. Once the speciality dances are over I go hand held and get out on the floor during the dances.
I also use it to get high over the head shots.

I use my 45 dollar Vanguard monopod more than my $300 Bogen!! It is awesome and extremely versatile! It also functions like a crude steadicam when retracted.
go get one, you won't be disappointed!

What about the monopods with the retractable legs? Are these strong enough to support a VX2000/PD150?

Bogen/Monfratto 623B-use it all the time. Watch out for the feet though, easy to move with the monopod and kick the feet-BIG move in the camera-BTW yes it works really well with the 150.
