Re: Projectors and Screens for Weddings...

I just did a wedding in which the bride wanted the photo montage playing during the reception. What I did was bring a 27" tv & VCR (next time it will be DVD since I got my burner now) and put it in the back of the room with the montage playing. I was funny to watch through out the night how people who wanted to get away and have a quite moment gravitated back to the tv and just watched even though I did not put sound to it so as not to compete with the DJ. At times there would be groups of 20 or so people back there all sittig at tables while at other times it would just be a couple. Big is nice but sometimes smaller will do. Just a thought. : Hi, I have been offering to show the Love Story/Photo Montage videos at weddings, and just got my first wedding that requested to do so. I had no solid pricing because 1) I am still a newbie and don't have the equipment and 2) I figured I could rent the equipment until I potentially owned my own. : So my questions are as follows. : 1. A local video house rents a 4x6' screen and projector for nearly $300. This is within my clients range for buying this service, so I can do it, they are happy, and there's no real profit. The upside is of course people at the reception get to view my product, and i get potential referrals. Is this a good idea considering that if I charge a little extra to make some more money off this service, I risk the client not getting this service, and being a little less happy w/ their product. : 2. I can buy a projector, but have seen them ranging from $1k to over $3k. Is it worth the investment? Do you receive alot of requests for this kind of service? Does the quality difference between the cheap and expensive projectors really make a difference when viewing at a reception? : 3. Can anyone recommend some specific specs to look for in a projector, as well as some good projectors that are popular within this industry? : Thanks!
