SONY VX2000 & SHOTGUN MIC Can't Post

Does anyone have good suggestions for a shotgun mic that works well with the Sony VX2000 but won't send me to the poor house.

Azden makes one with a minijack connector you might want to look into.
However, I'm amazed at the number of people who think you need a shotgun mike. Yes, I have one, too, but it isn't the "miracle audio cure" a lot of folks think it is. You'll almost always get a better result with a microphone that's off the camera, located a few inches from the audio source. That means a wireless lav, or a wired mic of some sort, or a mic (yes, probably a shotgun) on a boom pole. On-camera mics of any description are a poor second choice, or even a distant third.

Doug Graham

True, Doug, but in the situation where the groom REFUSES to wear a wireless,(usually police officers I've noticed) I've used the MKE 300 to at least focus the sound at me and to ignore the stuff an on camera cardioid picks up.

I have found a vital accessory to any shotgun mic is a mic isolator so that the mic doesn't pick up camera noise and hand noise transmitted through the camera body. www.lightwavesystems.com and it will put you in the poor house.
