Scanning Pictures and correct pixels size? Can't Post

I have been scanning pictures in Final Cut Pro from Photoshop and I have just noticed for the first time some bending of the picture when it is played in the timeline of FCP. Has this happened before to anyone else? Is this from an incorrect change in pizel size from scan to TV? Now it only happens on pictures that are wider. Ones that fill up more of the screen. Interested in opinions. Thanks
Rob

Maybe you only see it on those wider pictures. A good test is to create a circle and see if it's still a circle in FCP. Likely, it will become an oval. I'm not sure if this is your problem but there are square and non-square pixels. Nothing is broke; it's just a format adjustment you have to make. You have to rescale the images in Photoshop before bringing them into FCP and using them with an NTSC or other standard. There is information on this on pages 296 and 297 of the FCP version 2 manual. It's also in other places. I think there was a book by Lisa Bremer on FCP that spoke on the subject a year or two ago.

The thing is, is that I have the FCP 2.o manual and have change the settings from square to non square pixels but still get the same problem for only the pictures that are wider. So far my solution has been to increase the size in FCP of the picture so that the bent areas are not seen. The rest of the picture is not affected. It is just the outer left/right edges that distort even when I crop it it happens...oh well keep trying..and thanks all for the help...

Try this this works well in Premiere 6.0
Scan your photo
Load the pic in Photoshop
Crop to your liking
Then create a new photo to the size of 720 x 480
Use the move tool to drag your cropped photo on to the 720 x 480 pic
The go to Edit->Transfor->Scale and resize until it looks the way you want it to
Then double click on the 720 x 480 pic and then save the pic as .TGA 32 bit and then import to FCP
Best,
Rob

Rob,
Did you check out Ken's site? It will tell you exactly how to handle your photos.
