Sony MZ-R55 battery question Can't Post

Have done some tests but wanted to poll the audience. Do most of you use the gumstick battery along with the add-on AA battery pack?
And just how does this unit deal with these 2 sets of batteries? Does it start with the gumstick then switch to the AA when needed? Does it pull from both at the same time? Just wondering as I am afraid of losing a gumstick battery (bought all 3 from ebay and can't trust their history) so I always use the AA with the charged up gumstick battery.
Thanks for any new insight because of course the manual states nothing beyond the basic!

I get about an hour out of my new gumstick battery (recording).
As for the AA attachment, I`m a bit like you. I attach in most situations just in case.
As for if it then uses the gumstick before the AA`s, or maybe the AA`s disables the gumstick all together I`m not sure.
I think this is a downside of the earlier models, I`m pretty sure the newer models can record for 12 hours or something without AA`s.
Daryl.
