.....But seriously, they need to move that presentation to a mall and make it free. We already know the power of video, it's the brides that need convincing and not only are you holding this at a place where brides won't be, you're charging them $30 to boot. Explain to me again how getting a bunch of videographers and planners together is going to help spread the word about the "Power of Video"? Or put the $30 towards doing a combined presentation at the big bridal shows...where there are actually several thousand BRIDES in attendance. But yeah, it's hard to determine how many brides actually get a WEDDING DAY planner. I see that many offer pre-wedding planning, but not actual wedding day assistance. And like you, I only see a coord at like 1/20 of weddings, and lets say 1/3 of weddings have a videog, but that still means that the majority of weddings with a coord will NOT have a videog. I'm really not sure how trying to sell a wedding video to a room full of planners is going to help that, or why they'd decide to send me there customers over another videog simly by adding to the stack of business cards they'll collect and trash that day, but we'll see. Of course, I think the inevitable question will be from planners should be,"when, if ever, will my client actually get there video?" Planners are probably reluctant to give out videographer referrals to an industry with a crappy reputation of screwing their customers with long backlogs or non-delivery. Fancy BS demo reels won't change that...the people that make those fancy demos are usually the root of the problem. You remember the award winning "big shot" videographer (I'm sorry, "film-maker") we talked about via PM, who's starting price is 4X mine? I got ANOTHER horror story from my favorite wedding planner this past weekend at a wedding. A story of another bride who booked him, who hasn't got her video after two years, and the videog (you know who you are), pretty much told her that he doesn't have time to edit it. Loser. I'm editing a wedding right now, that was shot 2 years ago by what appears to be the worst cameraperson ever (entirely handheld, one camera, all on-camera audio). He shot it and never got around to editing it, so I'm charging him $300 to do a quick edit and burn it. The bride is highly upset, understandably. He already gave her my contact info, and washed his hands of the matter. It's crap like this that is a FAR more damaging than people like "the Pros", or Uncle Rusty's $799 Videotaping Service. If I attend the "Power of Video", I'd be happy to make a presentation to the planners on who they should book if they want happy brides who actually get their videos without waiting months...or years. They won't even have to pay my $2500 seminar fee. Faith Poison Wedding Films Blog Intergalactic Award-Winning Epic-Cinematic Wedding New-Doc Style Indie Bridal Movies on Hi-Definition Blu-Ray Disc
