Traler for 02/10/07 Can't Post

This is the second trailer I've produced. I think I'm starting to figure out how to capture a little faster and know exactly what I need to get for one of these things. My goal is to get this under 5 hours total so it won't be too much of a time crunch. Honestly though, I kinda like doing these. I always come home from a wedding wondering how the footage turned out. This way I can find out and hopefully get some business as well. On this trailer I tried my hand at those trailer tag lines you see so often in previews so it wouldn't feel so much like a mini highlights. It still is a mini highlights IMHO but I'm thinking I'm getting closer to making these pieces their own thing. The main reason for doing these was to have video on the wedding recap on the blog instead of just stills. I think showing video so soon after the wedding has alot of impact. Even more so if you're one of those SDE rockstars. I don't edit fast so these are the next best thing. The new preview.

Very nice Chris, and cool idea on how to utilize the power of your blog. The reward of checking your project tapes right after the gig has some great benefits, too.

Well for one thing, he has a great blog regardless of what biz he's in. Maybe 1/4 of it is photo stuff. Also we had a pretty good conversation on Friday about the state of wedding videography, a little bit about blogging, and of course the music on his site. I thought why not link him? If you have a blog, I'd be glad to link you. Just let me know when you get one up!

Hi Chris, I really liked your trailer and also read your summary of the wedding. There is one thing I would edit out is where you mention you were getting the flu. I would delete that out. You don't want your brides to know you were getting sick.

Cheers,
Lou K

Hey Lou,

It was my assistant who was getting the flu but if that's not clear in the write-up I need to clarify that. Thanks.

If you came to that conclusion then others might too. I'm starting to think I need to get you guys to proof my stuff before it goes live Wink. Anyway it's revised now with any mention of flu taken out.

Now that works Chris. I would never mention illness, even though there were instances that I was sick but then again who needs to know.Sly

Is there a reason you put the titling higher than center?

No real reason. I manually aligned it as auto centering vertically looked a little low to me. Could be I was some pixels off.

Nail on the head! Exactly what Jerome has been doing. from here it's a natural progression to the SDE. Smile
great trailer btw!

Re: [mazzystar] Traler for 02/10/07 [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd love to be a rock star and produce an SDE but it takes me the longest time just to CAPTURE the footage I need much less edit the thing. Right now it's 7 hours from capture to final product. What I'm going to try this week is some pre-vis like the Randalls do where I have dummy cards where I want the next clip to be and what the content of it will be. I think I have a cool song for the next one that isn't exactly Gregorian Chants (I simply refuse to use X-Ray Dog) but not what you'd think for a wedding video. I'll have to see what the couple is like and see if it fits them or not.

Thanks for your comments!

Yeah..he knows a lot about film and video because he graduated with a degree in filmmaking. I worked with him a couple times last year.

The first we worked together. he showed up totally acting primadonna with his orange shirts and dyed blond hair...i was like.."OMG..who does this guy think he is?"...my first impression was totally wrong. Very down to earth guy..we really clicked while I was editing my SDE..we were talking about music and why David Lee Roth was so much better than Sammy and things like that. Good times. he wrote a nice write up of my SDE on his blog and has referred me a lot. Great guy.

As far as a Blog.(GL) I have one. (GL) Its just not "live" yet (GL)

But we're working on it. (GL) Cool
