Two Brides, One Crew Can't Post

This is my first post on VU! So hello to everyone! Smile

Here's my question:

How do you handle having two prospective clients who inquire about the same wedding day but only have one crew to shoot? Any suggestions on how to cope with this situation delicately?

Thanks,
Loyd

Unless you promised something to the first bride, whoever returns a signed contract/retainer fee first gets the date.

Tell them each that date is open as of now and invite them over to talk and see your work. Mention initially and again when they come over that the first signed contract and non-refundable retainer in your hands locks the date. Cuts down on slow response on their part, adds some tension about losing the prize (your services), sees how serious they are.

You do run the risk that the first one in might want a smaller package than the other, and that the couple/job/venue/etc that you prefer might be the slow one.

I am in this situation right now for May 24, having talked with two couples. One I haven't heard from in about a month; the other asked for a contract just last week. I personally hope the second one comes through, but potential customers can be so flakey that I will go with whoever gets the required payment and contract to me first.

Whoever submits a valid contract w/ payment first gets the date, but I do base it on first inquire, first right. If I do happen to get two contracts for the same date, I base my decision on what works best for me in terms of location, time, personality, etc.
