URGENT!!! You Must Act NOW - Health Insurance!

This is a recent call to action from PPA, but applies to videographers as well. Step up, do your part and be heard!
To All PPA Members:
This is a call for immediate action. On Thursday morning (June 19) the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a bill that will make it easier for photographers to get affordable health insurance. We are urging you to take action by calling your member of Congress no later than early Thursday morning and telling them to vote in favor of H.R. 660, the Small Business Health Fairness Act.

We realize that this request for action is strongly worded, but we cannot emphasize enough the importance of every PPA member contacting Congress to support H.R. 660. This is our best, and perhaps only, opportunity to fix a problem that has plagued independent photographers for years.
The Small Business Health Fairness Act will allow professional associations to offer members group health insurance on a national basis -- similar to the way large corporations and unions are permitted to offer employees in various states the same coverage. Passing H.R. 660 will help drive down premiums and make insurance more affordable for small businesses, including the 28% of PPA members who currently have no health insurance at all. More details, including the full text of the bill, are available at www.ppa.com. In order to have any effect on the vote, you will need to call your Representative no later that 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, June 19.
Any effort you can take to support this bill will go toward making health care more affordable and available to professional photographers - a sample phone script is below. Again, we urge you to act now and contact your Representative before we lose our best opportunity for affordable access to health insurance.

This is (Your Name) in (City, State). As one of (HIS/HER) constituents, I am
calling to urge Representative (LAST NAME) to vote in favor of H.R. 660, The
Small Business Health Fairness Act. As a small business owner and
photographer I can tell you that finding health insurance at a reasonable
cost is nearly impossible.
By passing this bill, you will make it possible for small business owners
like me the same access to health insurance that major corporations and
unions have had for years.
This bill will allow me, and others like me, to become part of a large group insurance policy, which will help drive down premiums and make insurance more affordable for all of us -- including the 28% of my fellow photographers who currently have no health insurance at all.
Again, I urge you to vote in favor of H.R. 660, The Small Business Health Fairness Act.
