Upgrading to Win2000 Can't Post

Upgrading from Win98, to 2000... can I purchase this myself and install it?... or do I need to bring it in. I'm running Premiere with DV Rex .........any problems installing it myself? Has anybody done it themselves?....Thanks

Install it yourself. Its a piece of cake. I've done it many, and I mean many times.
just make sure before you do that you search the web for win2k drivers for your various components, ie. video card, soundcard, modem, cd writer, etc... burn these onto a cd (unzipped)so you have them once you install.
I wouldn't recomend upgrading from win98 as in just putting the disc in while your running 98 and have it do the upgrade. I would start from scratch, which you can do with an upgrade cd, you just need to have a copy of win98 or winNT handy to put it in when it asks to verify that you qualify for an upgrade. This may sound confusing but its not really. Installing win2k is as easy as booting the computer with the disc in the cd drive and following instructions.

Click on the link below and scroll down until you come to the link to download David LaBorde's Video Editing Tweaks for Windows 2000 in MS Word Format. It has help me with setting up W2K.
Good Luck

In theory its easy, in reality it could be a night mare.
If you do not feel comfortable in dealing with making sure you have the right drivers and making sure your system can handle win 2000 then tak it in and have it done. I have upgraded systems for years now and none have been easy as they claim to be. Some softwares and hardwares will not work in win 200 or win XP and then you are stuck with a system that is non working and what will you do?
If you can take a chance to try it and have all your inportant data saved to cd or to another compuer then give it a try you have nothing to loose as everyting inportant is saved. If it works as in many cases it will, than thats grwat and you saved yourself some money, but if it does not, than you are up the creek and maybe lost everything thats dear to you, Ok maybe not everyting, you may still haev your girlfrien, husbund/wife, and children, you get the picture!!
Just remember it they claim its seasy as 123, im many many cases its not that easy, and every software/hardware that has anything to do with your computer, you will call them for help, amd all you will hear that its not theie faul its the other companies fault and you will get the run around till your head will spin off.
Bet to get a pro to do the work for you, and if they muck it up, you do not pay, simple as that.
Good Luck in your system upgrade.
