Video09 - 4EverGroup Convention - hmm...... Can't Post

What's kind of weird to me is that the convention was 'quietly' announced on 4EG's website during the events of NAB. No huge announcement or whatever else, when it was apparently supposed to be announced a few weeks ago.

In addition, I have emailed Steve Wernick about 8-10 times on a different issue, and he hasn't replied at all.

Anyone know what his story is at the moment?

I don't know, but I did get my CD's of the mp3's. I had thought I ordered them, but couldn't find my confirmation email or see the order on the site's history. Then I get a phone call from Ed asking if I really wanted 2 orders of them.... WOOOPS! Guess there was 1 order in the system already. So I told him just the 1. I think there was a kink somewhere but I got them.

Not sure about the convention. Your post the other day is the only time I ever heard of it.

Just on the 4Ever website and you have to really look to find anything on the announcement. Usually we get a big email, big banner. Hoping maybe we just think about stuff too much.

You gotta love those easy listening CDs, next to Perry Como the seminars are the next best thing to induce sleep. Wink Listen to mine and see if you can tell what language Im speaking. I listened the other day and it was like a trip to the dentist, hardest thing I have done in a long time. Hearing yourself speak is like having a out of body experience and you wonder who the hell is that talking? ShockedCrazy I suggest all of you turn in proposals to WEVA or 4EG so you too can enjoy public speaking. I'm serious, it really is fun, all of you have knowledge that would help other people - spread the love. Smile The Mayor

I love being in front of hundreds of people and speaking. Before I started the video business I was a professional juggler and did shows all over the state of Wisconsin. It was always such a rush to get up in front of people and talk.

That was my guess when I first met you. Wink Really! That's amazing to know what we all did before we stumbled across video. I think that was a recent post here or somewhere else recently. I think we have found our next entertainer at conventions - Bruce Cleveland!! Watch him juggle 4 Canon HD20's!!!! He has more moves than Dan Boswell !!! WinkSmile

I guess I have that juggler look to me. I was thinking that there are some similarities with doing a juggling show and doing a wedding video.

People think you are always in control, no matter how frazzled you may look.

You have to control many objects and tasks at one time.

Many times people did not notice me on a six foot high unicycle juggling flaming torches. Many times people do not notice the camera sitting on a six foot tripod with a light on it.

Phillip Hinkle is always wanting to put on a juggling unicycle show at 4ever.

Hey....when I was a kid I wanted to ride in the circus. Heck, I even wanted to appear on the gong show too. I was going to ride my uni while playing the trumpet. I even tried it at home and could do it. Woulda been gonged right out of the gate I'm sure.

What would be fun is at the banquet to have a live band put together of out of videographers in attendance. I can bring the skills of a trumpet or trombone and also a bass guitar (my main preference). Would be fun to play a few tunes for entertainment.

Marshall,

I sent Steve an e-mail late last night after reading your post and he responded this afternoon saying they were really swamped organizing several things right now including Video 09 and a couple of great initiatives (no, I don't know what they are, his words Cool) , but that there will be more info on the website shortly.

Also, I see the site will be down tomorrow night for a while for a server upgrade.

Hi Philip,

I didn't know you played bass. I played for about 30 years. I just sold my bass. You can see some pictures and a 9 year old video of it under the Series II link towards the bottom of the page. www.VonTraining.com

Re: [Mark Von Lanken] Video09 - 4EverGroup Convention - hmm...... [In reply to] Can't Post

I was on your site the other day and noticed a bass guitar on there. I have a wee bit of music talent in my blood so I pick up instruments pretty easily. I used to sing and play trumpet/trombone on our church worship team and we were without a bass guitar. I told the worship leader who played guitar (but was really a bass player) to teach me bass. He brought a bass he had just bought out of the newspaper to practice one Saturday. I made a fingering chart and practiced with the worship team on Saturday and played it on Sunday. I haven't played the trumpet since (or sang...lucky for them). Of all the instruments the bass is probably one of the easier ones to learn to play....now to play it well is a different story. I can play the required notes and do a few walkups and walkdowns here and there and just recently I got confident enough to play without looking down. I would put myself in the category of people who can play bass but not in the category of those who can play it well. Cool I do enjoy it though and still play it every Sunday at church.

I have played guitar for 27 years and know lots of different songs from different genres. I've played everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top. We should definitely talk to Steve about a live band.

I'll even bring extra guitars and a bass for people who want to jam. And despite what you saw at Video '08 I can sing backup harmonies. I can, no really, I swear I can sing a little

David Robin brought together a All Star Band for WEVA 06. It was lots of fun watching them, but they took too many breaks. Wink

I am not about breaks. I don't drink, so when I played in my band I wasn't at the bar to socialize and score some reefer and a 40. I wanted to play, so I set up the setlist so that we played for an hour and then took a 20 minute break.

I'll bet we have lots of videographers who are musicians so can could probably plan it so that musicians can play for a bit, leave the stage to mingle and take a break one by one and have somebody come in and fill in. So it would be like a rotating stage of musicians.

Anybody up for playing?
