Web Hosts Can't Post

K, got a halfway decent website built, now all I need is a good hosting service! First of all, does anyone here use iPowerweb or LunarPages? I've looked at both of those, and they look pretty good for $7.95 a month. iPowerWeb offers a free domain as well. If anyone has used either of these, let me know how well it works for you.
Also, if anyone has any other recommendations, send 'em along. I really don't want anything more than $7.95 a month if I can help it. But less would be nice :) I think this is going to be such a huge gamble anyway. I'm gonna kick myself if I pay for a year of hosting and after that year is over, I have yet to get a single booking out of it! Hopefully, that won't happen. I wonder....would it be a good idea to put the site up initially on say Geocities or a free service, just to try it out, then if I get a booking or two from it, move it to a paid service? That would at least save a bit of money as just one booking would pay for the hosting service.
Ah, well. Any ideas shall be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug C.

Re: Web Hosts [In reply to] Can't Post

I use unitedstateswebhost.com. I just upgraded to their level 2 hosting and it cost $64.90 for a year and that included a 9.95 setup fee. Not sure if the domain is extra. I already had mine through them. For only a little over $5 a month you get 100 mg storage and unlimited bandwidth and unlimited domain named email addresses. Lots of other standard stuff like SQL databases and stuff.

Get a web presence. It's professional and a must-have for a business that deals with so much technology.
Check out http://www.webhostingratings.com/
Free hosting drives customers away. It conveys a cheaper image of your business, not to mention the billions (ok, not that many) of pop-up advert. windows.
Lunar Pages gets good ratings but ICDsoft's (www.icdsoft.com) ratings are stellar with a 9.2 rating from 258 reviews for $5/month with NO setup fees (65 for 12 months with domain registration). Also worth mentioning, when you host additional sites as an existing customer, you get 20% off. Save $$$
I currently have 3 websites running on ICDsoft servers and have had no problems.
One last thing. I don't work for icdsoft. Just passing along a good find. Pay it forward, right?

Re: Web Hosts [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Doug,
I use Lunarpages and have two friends who also use them. Here is the bottom line - the price is awesome, you actually get to speak to a real live person via a 1-800 number, and tons of bandwidth and transfer.
Regards,
Shawn
