What is the lowest to the floor tripod I can get for my PD150? Can't Post

Aside from setting the PD150 on something is their a tripod that can set the camera off the ground about 3 or 4 inches?

I seen something like spider legs for a still camera but not sure if it will work with a PD150 video camera.

Couple of options here. You can get an el' cheapo sandbag to accomplish the same thing. Or, I got real good glidecam sort of technique last year that I don't remember who I got it from or I'd give them credit.

Take your monopod (assuming you have one) and hold it upside down so that your picture is inverted and then walk with it. When you get back to the editing room, flip it in post and you have a "inches off the ground" glidecam shot.

The DV MultiRig can be easily configured for that process

Steve I do that and get some incredible dancing shots. It also gets me lots of shots that I can charge $12.95 a month for. WinkWinkWink

Try Miller. I use two stage legs with a ground spreader and it will go down to that height. It also has a ball adjusted head which will give you locked off dutch angles if you want them.

Roscoe,

Do you have a link or something so I may see Miller with a ball head?

Slik makes a great small tripod that goes quite low. See it here:

Also,sSome of the smaller Bogens have legs that can be splayed out to get low.

Take a look at the egripz - it is a "bendy" accessory meant for hand-held support, but can also be used as a mini-tripod (the back end of the camera making the 3rd point).

Go to this link:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/433005-REG/Anton_Bauer_EGRIPZ_EgripZ_Handheld_Camera_Support.html#goto_itemInfo

then click directly on the picture of the grip - it pops up a little window showing a man holding the camera on the grip - picture that configuration set on the floor.

I find it great for shots like bride/groom putting on shoes, or a very low tripod to get an interesting angle for the aisle of the church, etc.

At 4EG '08 one of the vendors advised against using it the way it is pictured - that over time the firmness of the grip might decline and your camera could fall off and be damaged - just FYI, seems like a remote possibility to me. I use mine bent into half a "T" the left half horizontal to the ground, the right half perpendicular to the ground - when holding the camara with your hand in the side hand-strap thing (there must be a name for this ?) the right half of the support is on your inner forearm - really supports the weight and balance nicely. The left half can be held with your left hand to "steer" or otherwise stabelize the camera.

My bogen will go that low, but it requires re-configuring it...and that takes a couple of minutes, which is kind of a hassle.
