What would you do? Can't Post

Ok. This isnt reall THAT big of a deal but just wondering what you would do in this situation.
I was "hired" to shoot two high school graduations. Not really "hired" since I only get what people buy. But I was the only video company allowed on the floor during the ceremony.
Anyway, I get a call today from another videographer in town, I've met her once at a bridal show, and she would like to buy a copy of my video.
The reason is, she was hired by a parent to shoot their child (that sounds bad) during the ceremony. Well, obviously, I have better footage since I was 10 feet away and not 200 or more.
So she would like to use my footage in her video.
I really dont have a problem letting her do this, but is it bad to ask for acknowledgment in her video that I shot some of the footage. Since I plan on doing these schools videos in the years to come, it would be nice to have some publicity. Sales this year were really bad. Only $2000+ from two schools with over 300 graduates each. I think the main reason is that the guy who was doing it before was really really really bad. and Im not exagerating. When I taught Digital Video editing at the Junior College last year, I used his video as an example of what NOT to do. EVER!!!!!
One of the biggest things I stressed in class was being professional always. Makes us all look good.
So anyway, should I just give sell her the video and let her do what she wants or make some kind of contract? Im leaning more on just giving her a copy.
Guess Im too nice.

I think maybe the mother just ought to buy the video from you. If you give her a copy, I would most certainly want the acknowledgement...especially since this seems to be some of your "bread and butter."
Sometimes being too nice can bite you in the behind <smile>.

Mark,
Since its for some very well meaning parents I would ask for a "credit" at the end....minimum!!!

Mark,
We had something similar with a high school graduation request from a stepfather living out of state, and wanting a video of the ceremony to send to the child's the mother who is in Iraq. It is hard to get good footage at these things. This is probably a one time thing so I think we'd just sell a copy at our usual extra copy price of $35. Good things have a way of coming back to a person.

I'd charge a small fee to cover the costs of duplicating the footage and sending it to her and ask for a credit both on the tape she produces and on its cover if appropriate. I'd maybe also want a copy of the finished product just to make sure my footage had been used as promised.

Mark,
I would ask for her to acknowledge and give credit as in this:
Additional footage provided by:
Company Name
Address
City, State Zip
Phone: (123) 555-1234
http://www.yourURL
Spell it out for her by providing her the exact text. That way everybody will be on the same page.
Good Luck!
Kevin

Add your company name or logo in the lower right corner on the footage that you give to this other videographer. This way, every time you footage is used, your name/logo is seen.
