Z7 & EX1 with 24P Can't Post

I too am trying to decide on which camera to buy.

One thing i used to love about my Panasonic 100A, before I went to the Z1, was the aesthetic of the 24P look.

Are owners of the new cameras shooting 24P? How does it look?
Does it cut the terrific lowlight capabilities of these cameras, and if so, by how much?

Also, i recently spent some time playing around with the Z7 and it felt pretty balanced, handheld, whereas the EX1 was a little front heavy.
Does anyone know the weight difference?

Any users care to elaborate on these issues?

Much appreciated.

Hey Dave

I like the look of 24p on the EX1 but not near as much as 30p. Its a little less juddery (yes..thats a word) and more pleasing to the eyes..(mine at least)

Never held a Z7 so can't compare weight. The EX1 is definitely a beast though and the weight is not as balanced as you would probably like.

HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!!! I have those too!! (well, I guess mine aren't all that little though!)

After capturing from tape for last night's SDE, I was dying for a Z7U or EX1. I'm going to have to get moving on one of those. So that means you'll have to CALL ME soon to convince me on the EX1! LOL!!

That is kind of funny to hear since everyone is "begging" for the 24p...then to hear that you actually like 30p more..
Cool

Who?

I have never "begged" for 24p. If I ever want to do a film out, its great feature to have. For me, progressive is a aesthetic i prefer to interlaced...but its definitely nice to have more than one option.

Wasn't directed specifically at you, but at the "24p or DIE" crew Tongue

Maybe you or someone here can explain this but don't you have to convert 24P to 30P using some kind of pull down algorithm? Aren't you going to be 30fps if the final destination for your project is video anyway?

Apparently there are many of us that suffer from the same affliction. Pirate

It hasn't been an issue in the past, but by listening to the conversations it would appear that this is something I'll have to take under consideration this time around.
