computer netwroking problem Can't Post

Okay, I'm having a dilemma having to use 2 computers at once, so here is a question for any computer techies out there.
I have 2 pc's connected, of course networked and to the internet. I can use each computer fine by itself surfing the internet, sharing files with the other pc and such. But when I use one of the computers and someone else is using the other one at the same time, regardless if it's surfing on the internet or not, we both get this delay-like the computers are suddenly slow and sluggish. The mouse on both computers respond sluggishly, the computers perform commands slowly like a delayed intermittent response.
No addition of hardware coincided with this problem, as I have been having this problem ever since I networked the pc's.
Could it be power cord interference-magnetic fields? Both have wireless mice and keyboards, but I can't imagine those interfering with computer performance.
Any help would be appreciated.
Alan

Try making one of them not wireless if you haven't already. I have 2 cpu's networked but with corded keyboards and mice... I've never had that problem and use them all the time simultaneously. If the wireless thing doesn't solve it, I'd scour the net for someone with a similar problem and see how they fixed it. Good luck! Dan

My computers are networked also, but I disable the connection when editing.
It's so easy to ENable them again when you need to share something.
You could try this, but if you definately need the computers
networked when you're editing, then...hmmmm...I don't know.
Good luck,
Terry T.

Wireless interference is a long-shot... Ctrl-Alt-Del and see what common proccesses are running on the machines.. then one by one kill those processes. when the computer suddenly performs great again.. you know that you have found your problem.. When your computer screen goes blue and never restarts.. My email address is forevered lost in the bit bucket.

How are you networking and sharing an internet connection? Assuming Ethernet with TCP/IP networking - each computer has an Ethernet card plugged into a switch/hub and a cable/dsl modem plugged into the switch/hub, then you should not be experiencing "slow" or "jerky" keyboard/mouse uses unless possibly you are using remote desktop sharing (such as netmeeting, or some other sharing application). You might try to narrow down the source of the problem by disconnecting the two computers and trying to use them at the same time... if the problem remains, then it's probably a wireless keyboard/mouse conflict. I would try a number of different combinations to find the source of the conflict.. for example, when you aren't "using" one of them, is it powered off? If you can give me a bit more detail as to the setup, perhaps I can help find your problem.

Depending on what king of internet connection you have here is an idea. By connecting two computers to a hub and then your cable/dsl modem to the hub you either need an IP for each computer to surf, or you need to go through the modem to the hub to one computer then shared back through the hub to the other computer.
Here is a little trick that I have used on a number of networks that have setup with a broadband connection and only one IP.
Put two NICs in one computer and one in the other. Connect the modem to one NIC and the hub to the other NIC. Then share the internet connection on the computer with two NICs. This way both computers are networked and have internet connections and you can setup the first computer as your firewall with any settings you want through MS Windows.
It's an easy way to get multiple computers to access the internet through one IP.
I probably made that more confusing than it actually is!

Hmmmmm..I dunno...I have 3 PCs on my home network and can surf on all three (downloading on all 3) and no slowdowns.....and only 1 IP address.....
I use a Linksys (I think) hub...Cable modem hooks up to the uplink and the 3 PCs connect to the hub as well...

Yeah, me too. Three computers and download on all three at the same time. They aren't networked yet but soon. Can't quite figure it out yet, something about a shared folder?
I have Lynks also, wireless.
