This is golden, you'll love it for the price. I just moved up to a DC2000 card. But I still have my DV500 and still think it is great. Both analog and DV capture with device control A+++.
I assume they are giving you a compatable MBoard. Go to pinnacles site and double check.
Two thinks I would upgrade: the memory to 512 and the video card to 64 megs. I just got 1gig of mem and 128 of video mem. But if you want to keep the cost down just up it to what I said and you will be very happy.
Peace,
: Greetings

Sounds good, but if you tweak it just a bit, you can get an awesome system. Here's my 2 cents...
Switch from Pentium 1.6 to an Athlon AMD 1.6 (reason: they are better for video and cost a little less)
Bump from 256 to 512 RAM (it's too cheap not to get the extra RAM)
There is no need for two 80 GB drives. You want one drive for video only and one for system opps. Therefore, you would not need an 80 GB drive for system opps. Instead, get a 120 GB (video) and a 40 (system). Make sure you get at least 7200RPM drives (Maxtor is good).
Floppy is fine. CDR is fine
If you want an absolute rock solid system card, you should consider going with a Canopus Raptor-RT. NOBODY beats them in stability, and you can get it in the same price range as the DV500. Pinnacle has it's problems, just goto their forum or the Adobe premiere forum and you will see tons of "I have problems" posts from users of their stuff. You hardly ever see any from Canopus, that's because their stuff is solid. In doing weddings and things like youare talking about, you need stability. I know because I do the same thing. You can get the Raptor with Premiere 6 for about the same price as the DV500.
You should also bump you 32md to 64 in the graphics card.
I had my computer (AMD 1.5) custom designed to my specs and built for me from IBUYPOWER.com. They take your order, build it and ship it to you.
I bought my Raptor-RT card from BHPhoto.
I got the whole thing, with shipping, for about $1,700.00. This was about 6 months ago.
Do your homework an the card. I know too many people having headaches with Pinnalce products. I have never had a problem with my Raptor.
.......my 2 cents.....>Eric

Did you install the card yourself? If so: any problems? I`m considering upgrading my system too and feel the card compatibility with other components is the scariest part, so am more likely to get a system builder to do it for me and guarantee it will work.
I`m a Pinnacle user too (sadly) :)

I disagree, Maxator drives are notoriously bad for dropping frames and cheap components, it would be better to go with a Medea SCSI RAID or a ATA 100 ide drive at the least.

Uh... Last time I checked, the newest 7200RPM Maxtor drives WERE ,at least, ATA100 IDE drives.
I've probably own at least 20 Maxtor drives and never had a problem with one yet. Can't say the same about IBM or WD.
