old ink jet dvds are peeling Can't Post

Hey.
Some Ink Jet DVDs I have that are a little older have begun peeling and flaking... anyone else experiencing this? This first one happened when I loaned a DVD to a friend, it all came apart in his burner. I thought it was an isolated case but since than, within a couple of weeks, some dvds I had lying around have begun flaking for no reason. They where just sitting on the shelf. Maybe it was a bad bundle I bought a couple of years ago, I hope it's limited and doesn't happen to everything I've burnt over the last 5 or 6 years. Has this been happening to anyone else?

Can you tell us what brand and type they are?

Is this the printables or lables added? My assumption is that you are referring to stick on labels?

I have had just a couple do that over the years. (Out of thousands)
One I accidentally left in PAUSE in the recorder overnight - oops! I think the heat contributed to that one.
I don't think I would be concerned about it.

Except that no one should be using labels anymore. I did for awhile, but they most likely contribute to some playability problems. And of course with peeling, who want pissed customer from 4-5 years ago calling up and saying we've screwed up her DVD player?

I did not think that post had anything to do with stick-on labels. He said "inkjet" DVDs which seemed pretty clear to me did not indicate labels.

Ridatas, white ink jets.
It's weird that they all happened within a couple of weeks of each other, after 2 or 3 years.

You know, I think the couple that I have had peel were Ridatas also. Mostly because I have used a lot of them - several thousand. But the incidence is so small I would not be concerned - brand wise. I have had far more TY's that my tower duplicators rejected or the burner that burned them would not play them back. I don't think you can expect much more for something that costs 30 cents.

thanks Daniel.

On another note, I am thinking of using one of your new cameras for back up with the Sony F350 XDCAM HD.
Have you shoot with it's big brother by chance or know how it compares?

I have never shot with one but have read on dvinfo.nerd and other places that they match up very well and are virtually indistinguishable (one guy even said he liked the EX1 footage better)
