I use a Cobra Crane II jib arm. It is only about 6 feet long. I have extension arms that attach to it that add another 3 feet so I could get up 14 feet if I wanted to. The only time I have only used them was for a corporate gig for New Balance shoes. I actually can get away with lugging it around because It rolls along with my other gear. I need to get wheels for the tripod as it can get awkward to move it around a crowded reception hall. I generally set it up to get all the "pretty shots" at the beginning of the reception then break it down after the parents dance. This takes less than 2 minutes. Just unplug the varizoom, monitor, take off the camera, and quick release the arm. So it is only an eyesore for the first 30 to 45 minutes. Nobody has complained yet and thank God I haven't hit anybody in the head with it! The counter weights are the heaviest part, but I leave them attached. I sometimes set my tripod with out extending the legs and use the jib for steady fluid shots like you would get with a steadicam or glidecam.(which I also utilize.) : It looks good. It looks like you use a camera boom to get some of the shots. What kind of boom are you using? I have about an 8 foot boom that I use on occasion, but I find it pretty awkward to set up and move around. How do you manage? : Postal
