weva, fact or fiction Can't Post

I was planning on joining weva but wonder if its really worth it, it seems like anybody can join, they dont seem to have any true creditonals. What do you all think. Will it help me find more work. I guess having the " logo " on my buisness card will give confadance for the client. Whats the general consent on this
Thanks in advance
God bless
Greg

I'm wondering really, in all honesty, who DOES have good creditonals?
Yes, a logo of your buisness would make a costumer more confadant.

Greg me old fruit
Do you just put your numb minded posting on here to amuse yourself? if so then perhaps your time would be better spent watching Jerry Springer.
You call yourself a professionall in a previous post after shooting just one wedding, LOL.
Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari sring to mind!

I'm a member of WEVA but I don't use any of their logo (yet). Their forum is good as this one. Unfortunately, some clients feel comfortable if you are a member of some "professional" association.

Re: weva, fact or fiction [In reply to] Can't Post

I tell my clients that I'm not a member of WEVA, after going thru the Demo with them.
But if they want me to be a WEVA member, I tell them that I can join WEVA online in just a few mins. As matter of fact, I tell them anyone can join as long as they pay the dues or the membership.
Then again, after that statement, most of my clients doesn't care.
I think WEVA is giving wrong impression to a lots of Brides and Groom, telling them that they should hire only the WEVA members.
I read an article in one of the Bride Mag. In that Article, a speker from WEVA told the Mag. that B&G should only hire WEVA members, because they have years of experience.
The fact is that, anyone can join WEVA as long as they paid the membership fee each year. ANYONE.
So far, none of my clients care if about me being a WEVA member.

I would love to see that particular article, because it does not sound like anything I've heard from them in the last 10 or 11 years of membership.
I'm not here to argue the merits of joining or not joining ... that's been beaten to death on this forum more than once and everyone has their strong opinions. However I am always anxious to read any information such as what has been posted above. If that's the way it was presented it was wrong and needs to be addressed. But if this is an inaccurate post then that needs to be put to rest as well.

Re: weva, fact or fiction [In reply to] Can't Post

To me, that raises a good question. I personally am getting tired of all these "organizations". I know some of them have good intentions but it "seems" to end up being a money thing.
It seems like when anything gets popular, someone goes out and creates a "organization" and charges some outrageous amount and then tries to convince everyone else that they should only use "their" people.
Im not saying weva is like that, but a good example is CLVS certification for Legal Video. Costs about 4K with travel and expenses added and when your done, theres nothing to say that you know what your doing.
But people want the CLVS stamp of approval.
Same also goes for computer software developers.
its with everything. Call it AACV (American Association of Corporate videos)
Maybe I should start some organization for people who shoot corporate videos.
Send out whole bunches of material letting companies know they should only use video production companies that are certified by AACV, then charge people at least $1000.00 to join and $500 per year to stay in it. And organize huge seminars every year that cost like $2500 to go to.
Because you know, if your not part of AACV, your not worth it!
Mark
PS. can you sense a tad of bitterness?
Im usually a fun guy (not a fungi) :)

Join the Better Business Bureau. [In reply to] Can't Post

Will WEVA handle and report any complaints your company gets? No. It's strictly an association, with some nice perks and great forums. If that is worth the annual fees to you, then go for it.
The Better Business Bureau membership will be ALOT more important to prospective clients. And if you have an unresolved complaint, they'll know about it. Which is probably why there aren't alot of video folks that are members. Too many complaints. But if you agree to arbitration, and are running an honest business, then you have no reason to worry about being a member.

Stop it
Stop the ironic comments

Xarry.....how does one pronounce your name?
Just curious.
Does the X have a Z sound?
Is it like Larry but Zarry?
I always wondered that.
Thanks,
Terry T.
