what's better with premiere - matrox or canopus? Can't Post

I can't decide on my future editing system. Is premiere optimal with matrox or canopus cards?

That is a loaded question that can start an arguement. I don't know anything about Matrox but I really love my Storm. I've read that the Canopus codec is superior to Matrox but I haven't seen that myself. I would go to justedit.com and read their user forums a while before deciding. Lots of great people there who will help you. I know of some who own and like both products.

That's funny Dave! I'm glad that there are so many good products to choose from that can do a great job video editing no matter what the company.

If you do a search either on this website or on just about any other board devoted to editing or video production you will find debates on this. Basically, IMO you can't go wrong with either product as long as it works with your system. For example, I originally bought the matrox rt2500. It was not compatible with my Dell 8200 -- I was dropping frames. So I exchanged it for the Canopus DV Storm, and it's been great. But I'm sure the Matrox is great too. The key is either buying a turnkey system (that's a computer that comes with the card already installed and working) or ensuring that the card you buy is compatible with your system. The Matrox and Canopus sites both have computer compatibility lists.

:) IN all honesty.. I have learnt to work around many problems and make the rt2000 work for me. The first few months where tough. The currant build is stable thou. I know the storm was much better for most ( right out of the box ) but either way, your going to hit walls and will have to learn the nle detours ( why do I feel Mac users are gloating right now )

Speaking of Macs, does anyone know if Final Cut Pro is going to be released for Windows. Also, is it far superior to Premiere.
As for the Canopus vs Matrox question this link is full for the fire...

Be sure to check out Pinnaclesys.com and their RTDV solution. Matrox, sadly, doesn't do audio!...it relies on your sound card to handle it and then apparently has some software function to sync the audio/video up later...a lame solution as far as I'm concerned. Plus check out the images on Canopus' site regarding Matrox...it will probably shock you.
Also, the Matrox needs at least a P4-2.0 (I think). That's just too much required horsepower IMO.
But look to Matrox for your video subsystem...Parhelia supports three CRTs plus an NTSC! I just received three Viewsonic VI-P95F+B on Monday and it's really wonderful having all this space to work. I refuse to pay the big bucks on widescreen lcd for editing as the technology isn't quite fast enough yet.
