On of the most important thing to remember when using computers for printing is t make sure that your monitor is properly calibrated.

So with this being said, is your monitor properly calibrated?

This can be done either in your display settings or even better a device such as a Spyder3.

you'll find pulling burned-edged google images to be the most realistic way. If ya look at my facebook profile frm my website, it's how I created those edges. I just slected them, copied em, paisted em in my work then treated as need to work em in. You find many edges that are helpful on scrap booking element sites too.

I have never had the need for Photoshop, even though it would probably made my life easier, but my question is...are there big differences between these versions if the only thing I am looking to do is create menus, disk & case labels, and maybe a little photo clean up for montages? I am shopping for a photoshop version but I am not sure going all the way up to CS4 will be worth the money since it is my first shot at a photoshop product. Thoughts????

Hi Rick,

What you see is all we have at the moment. I'd be willing to bet, though, that the tips will be prety much the same. Try them out and see what you think. If you learn of major differences, I'll gladly post your findings as an update to the article.

My colors are off and my photos are always too dark despite any adjustments I make. I've pretty much given up on printing anything at home except documents, its just too painful.

Do you have Encore? It will do it. Or in Photoshop, take that picture, make a duplicate (right-click), do "extract" to clear out the background, save without background, bring into Premire (I'm assuming here) and overlay the video, turn transparency down. Or.....punt...

I'm using PS Elements and Epson R220 printer with Ink Caddy II. I can't for the life of me figure out why my colors don't print the way they look on screen. I've tried every combination of settings in PS and Epson Software. Golds on the screen print green.

I can choose a goldish color with color management set to "Always Optimize for Printing" and when I change to "No Management" the gold turns to green. So I can leave it set to "No Management" and change the green back to gold and print......it prints looking green.

I hope I am explaining this well enough so someone may be able to explain to me what's going on.

This all started when I built my new PC and installed the ink caddy.....did both at the same time.

Thanks
Tim

you figure it out? the actions are stored in the presets>>action folder

if your custom actions are not there, you have to save them.

open up photoshop, go into your actions tab. select the folder where your actions are located, select the little triangle on the far right, which loads up a drop down menu. go to where it says save actions. select a destination. it will create a .acn file

you should be good to go after that.

A while back someone either here or somewhere online posted a tutorial on how to make a little 3d bug/watermark for the corner of your video. I have a memorial tribute that was created for a funeral home and they want to show it at a senior fare/tradeshow. I thought it would be cool to put a little bug/watermark in the corner to keep the funeral service company name on the screen all the time.

What I have now is a graphic of a horse drawn carriage and their name across the top on a transparent background. What do I do from here to make it 3d. I'm not a power user in photoshop so this technique eludes me.

Thanks for any help.

actions are saved in a directory on your hard drive, usually in the presets folder I think...they are .atn files. Do a search on your computer in the directory where Photoshop is saved and look for .atn files. That should pull them up for you.
