I have never had the need for Photoshop, even though it would probably made my life easier, but my question is...are there big differences between these versions if the only thing I am looking to do is create menus, disk & case labels, and maybe a little photo clean up for montages? I am shopping for a photoshop version but I am not sure going all the way up to CS4 will be worth the money since it is my first shot at a photoshop product. Thoughts????

I tried cutting 1 of the invitations (i have 2) and the edges are too sharp. I'm sure you saw this effect before especially used during voting time. Can anyone help. Thanks.

Confused on color and print setting

I'm using PS Elements and Epson R220 printer with Ink Caddy II. I can't for the life of me figure out why my colors don't print the way they look on screen. I've tried every combination of settings in PS and Epson Software. Golds on the screen print green.

I can choose a goldish color with color management set to "Always Optimize for Printing" and when I change to "No Management" the gold turns to green. So I can leave it set to "No Management" and change the green back to gold and print......it prints looking green.

I hope I am explaining this well enough so someone may be able to explain to me what's going on.

This all started when I built my new PC and installed the ink caddy.....did both at the same time.

Thanks
Tim

bug/watermark - How to?

A while back someone either here or somewhere online posted a tutorial on how to make a little 3d bug/watermark for the corner of your video. I have a memorial tribute that was created for a funeral home and they want to show it at a senior fare/tradeshow. I thought it would be cool to put a little bug/watermark in the corner to keep the funeral service company name on the screen all the time.

What I have now is a graphic of a horse drawn carriage and their name across the top on a transparent background. What do I do from here to make it 3d. I'm not a power user in photoshop so this technique eludes me.

Thanks for any help.

Anyone know how to do this? My google searches haven't turned up what I need.

Cheers

Ok, the post isn't as exciting at the subject might lead you to believe.

I am just wondering if anyone knows how to save actions to a file so that I can transfer it to another computer. I know how to download them and install them, but I have made some custom ones that I'd like to transfer to my new computer and can't figure out how to do that.

Thanks!

I am fairly adept for a videographer at the functionality and abilities of photoshop but one function I have always wanted and not been able to find in PS is the equivalent of an NLE's vectorscope and waveform monitor. I am very comfortable color correcting in my NLE with these tools and would love to have visual monitors to show the changes in photoshop.

Is there such a thing in Photoshop?

Thanks for any help.

CS3 - Automate? Droplet? Batch Process?

OK, I'm trying to automate the process of making scanned pictures video friendly. How do I create a process that can automatically do this to 50 or 100 pictures (of various sizes) at a time?

My current flow:
Scan with scanner software and save individual picture to a file
Open PS-CS3 and make new file with the film and video preset
PLACE scanned pic into the video preset file
Apply NTSC colors filter
Resize picture to fit the video frame
Save as PSD

There has to be a faster, better, automated way to do this.

Any help is appreciated

BTW - I am not an expert in PS (obviously or I wouldn't have to ask this question)

Thanks,
John

If I have 2 photos of the same thing (group shot), and in one of them someone's eyes are closed, it should be possible to grab the eyes and fit them onto the other shot.

Sounds easy. But I can't seem to get it to work right.

Does anyone know if this is called something specific, I haven't had much luck with the help menus.

I did a project for a school that I am sending out for duplication, because I dont have enough time in a day to send these through my printer, stuff the cases etc. They want the cover and DVD face on a template that they provide. No problem, I have most of it designed already. My problem is when it comes down to the copyright on the disc. I want it to follow the outside curve of the CD. On the Bravo Pro that I normally use, this is not a problem, sure thing has the circular text tool that works great, but I have no clue how to achieve this in photoshop. I have tried to use several tutorials I have found on the net, but every one of them come up with funny looking warped text. Any ideas?

I have been told that PS can automatically cut pics out of a scan when you scan multiple pics at one time. I.E. scan 4 pics at once and PS will select and create a new image of each picture that was scanned, making 4 pics from 1 scan. I cannot find out how to do this. Anyone knowing how to, please instruct me how to do this.
