I've been reading the horror stories of switching tapes after using one brand and the different lubricants used by different companies. I've run about ten hours of Panasonic tapes thru a new 2100 and was wondering if it's too late to switch brands. I know it's a Ford v Chevy choice, but I'd like to use Sony from here on. If there's any chance of a problem I will stick to the Panos. This 2100 is my main cam and the back up is not up for the task.

I would say that 10 tapes is not enough to build up enough residue to be concerned. A pass with a cleaning tape will remove residue from head drum, but if you want to be 100% worry free then a manual cleaning of the tape path will insure all remnants are removed.
