The new beta is supposed to be out this week and has in-built rotoscoping of some form. Should be interesting.

wow! I was going to whinge about the rate of upgrades from adobe and the expense of keeping trained with each new version but, having watched the vids, I am blown away by cs3! Will it be possible to make a bad picture next year? Fuji have auto face recognition, MS have auto face replacement, there are auto body reshapers, adobe has multi-lens auto sharpening - it is going to get really hard to be a bad photographer. I wonder what that will do the the low end wedding photo market?

Holy Crap! It comes out next spring? I'm still on PS7 and boy...I feel crippled by 7 when I see what CS3 is capable of.

Actually, now it is really EASY to be a bad photographer.
For weddings, all you need is a $500 DSLR and a little knowledge of Photoshop to 'fix' your mistakes...no experience necessary...just a website and a price tag. The more reason I'm going to eliminate PhotoShop from my photography workflow altogether, and focus on taking proper photos on film that don't require "digital enhancement". I'm sick of endlessly sinking money into software, and speding my entire life in front of the computer.

Agreed 100%. Bring on these electronic crutches, I say. They make those of us with experience look even better.
One of the myriad reasons I love photography so much is the hard fact that no amount of technology will ever take the place of 'the style of an eye'. At least not in our lifetimes. There is no magic bullet.
Also, there's one huge component required to be a successful wedding photographer that few ever think about. Personality. I swear to gawd some brides hire on that one single point alone.

What's the end product look like...
and What is the photographer/videographer like....
does it matter to the customer if you are film or digital, mac or pc, photoshop or no photoshop...?
I really believe that your finished product & your personality is what sells.
