multi cam editing software Can't Post
Has anyone used multicam editing software? Are there any recommendations and does it save much time? I usually do two or 3 camera shoots. I use Premier Pro 1.5 for editing. United Media has a multi cam plug in for premier pro. Does anyone have experience with this program.

The two main things I know about this program is:

1) It's NOT a plug-in - instead it is a separate application that can export a Premiere project file that is then opened in Premiere for final adjustments.
2) It's really expensive (about $600 for 4 cameras when I looked).

Personally I use Excalibur's Multi-Cam tools in Vegas. The good thing about it is you can buy Vegas + Excalibur for about the same price as the 4-cam Multi-Cam software, Excalibur works directly on the Vegas timeline, and has presets for up to 25 cameras. When I started using Excalibur it saved me a tremendous amount of time over the manual process I was using before.

I can say that if you start using multi-cam software of this nature, you'll definitely save time. It's definitely worth a serious look.

Multicam is a separate program, but it needs Premiere.

It is a GREAT program. A little expensive, true... but once you count all the hours you save by using it... then the price tag is not too much!

I use it for all my weddings!

Ceck out digital heaven. They have just released a multi-cam for FPC. I do not know if their program will work with express.

Oh, I fully understand. Not really trying to get you to leave Premier - just explaining what's out there giving a comparison between different products. As I said, if you start using multi-cam software you will NOT want to go back to the manual process.

What's this about glitches and crashes though????

Hi Luisa, where have you been hiding out lately? It was nice to meet you in JAX, I have heard so much about you over the years, just never got a chance to meet you until Video 07. You should be able to remember me, I was the best looking guy from Radcliff, Kentucky there the whole week.

I could kick myself in the back side for not attending your siminars on Adobe multi-cam and editing and Mega Cool Titles with After Effects. At the time I didn't have PPro 2.0 (only 1.5) and have never owned After Effects so I figured I would't gain much insight from attending. I did however catch some of your PhotoShop session since I did have version 7.

Now here I am a month later and find myself a proud owner of the new Production Studio Premimum. I've learned the basics of multi-cam editing, enough to get me through this current project and all I can say is WOW what a time saver this is! Just the stability I'm now experiencing with Adobe 2.0 and my Matrox 100 cards is woth the entire cost of the upgrade.

Anyway, I look forward to your video 08 seminar's, save me a seat in the front roll!

Why not just upgrade to Premiere 2.0? You can multicam up to 4 cameras and it works really well. Upgrade price is like $199, I think and Premiere 2.0 is really stable.

I have been using FCP 5 multi-cam feature for a while. This feature has made a huge difference in editing time for multi-cam shoots.

I agree with the Vegas and Excalibur.......the only problem using Excalibur(and I truly hate it) is the fact that I am editing more then twice as fast as I did with out it......now what the heck am I gonna do with this free time.Wink

Hi Luisa! I see you teach Premire Pro, or I think so. Have you run into the "stuttering video" problem with Premire Pro 2.0? Every time I load a project that is smooth from the camera and smooth on the timeline, "Until", I do someediting and effects and get stuttering video. Sometimes I can delete the preview files and it's ok, until I re-render and then it pops up elsewhere usually during a motion clip. Just wondering.Crazy
