Nope, haven't used it.
Boy I was a lot of help wasn't I!

I had my hands on one of the Sony Alpha's probably the lowest price one knowing who owned it. It didn't shoot in raw and it felt like if I dropped it there would be major damage to it. If you're thinking of the lower priced sony there is some cool camera protector that you can put around your cam. I forget exactly what it is called but it is a rubber mask type of thing that protects your cam if you drop it.

I'm so glad I've stayed out of the camera/camcorder market for a couple of years. There are so many changes!
Now I'm looking (and drooling a little) over the EOS-60D.

Does anyone remember back about ten years ago? I said that someday we would all be "image professionals" and use a device that was a combination still camera/video camera. At the time, I was told by a professional, who worked for the video camera arm of a major manufacturer, that it would never happen. He even went into a lot of technical detail about sensors, etc.

Well...I told you so. :)

By the way, I have just been saddled with the job of selling about six BOXES of still photo gear that belonged to my late father-in-law. He was a Canon aficionado and bought tons of their cameras and accessories. No digital gear, this is all 35mm film equipment. Look for a continuing series of auctions on eBay...or maybe I should set up a Store.

Doug, great to hear from you again.

Remember to take a look at those old manual lenses that your fatehr in law might have had.

As you could purchase adapters for those old manual lenses and apply them to a new DSLR like the 60D. Great for video production and could save you a ton of money on glass.

Let us know about the glass you are selling from the Canon days. As long as they aren't FD mounts they work great for video on our DSLRs since we have to use manual modes anyway. Many of us here would be interested in the glass so give us a shot at it before dumping it on eBay. Then you know it all goes to happy homes.

I think I remember that discussion you mentioned a few years back. I wouldn't care if it really did turn into that full bore. I remembered one person mentioning the day may be coming where a team is hired to cover photo/video almost like a movie with a director calling the shots. I wouldn't care if I was part of that team covering video as long as I was making good money doing what I like. It would be the same but we would just have better tools. The day is still not here where we can just shoot video footage and take those super high rez stills from the footage. We are still limited to 1920x1080 stills directly from footage. We can take a still with a DSLR while shooting video but we get a momentary pause in our video so it is not always a good thing. Even if we had a Red camera and could grab stills from it in max resolution they would still be smaller than todays 18-25mp still cams. We are alot closer and heading the direction of your prediction but not quite there yet.
