I recently started offering a Photo Booth rental service with a Portable easy to use Photo Booth, and doing very well with it. Anybody else doing or thinking about it?

No, but I think it would be a lot of fun!

There's no way I'd try to offer both, since I'm a super-small-time one-man show, but I've considered getting my GF to do it to make some extra cash...but I don't think she'd want to lug all that crap around. I've seen some pretty neat turn-key kits at weddings, and some cooler ones that DJ's and photog's are putting together. (I've also seen some REALLY crappy/stupid ones that didn't work well at all and just pissed guests off.)

I don't know how much you can charge for it, but it's popular, and like a DJ....you're DONE after the wedding! (I think?)

It is so much fun! Especially when I place the Photo Booth near the bar, I get the must craziest poses if you know what I mean

My Videography service has dipped down a lot mainly because of so much competition in SoCal, but my PhotoBooth overall is doing very well and the best part.... NO VIDEO EDITiNG!

I still love Videography but during these times my P B service is so much easier, faster, less stressful and fun! Plus I'm making almost the same $$$$ in less time.

I make super-cheap recession-proof videos, and since I got rid of the backlog sillyness/huge editing times, my little video business is busier than ever...and easier/more profitable (I use the word "profit" lightly) than ever. My GF has a super outgoing, no holds barred personality, but no photo/video skills...so I think she'd have fun with it. She's an engineer for NASA, and doesn't need the money...she's just bored...not to mention NASA is a relic stuck in a time-warp that NEEDS to be shut down/re-started from the ground up...and big layoffs are coming in her group...

Placement by the bar would be awesome. A few weeks ago, the venue stuck the "booth"...which was actually a big open studio type setup with props and everything...in a separate room...and NOBODY used it...but the bride and groom...and even they felt awkward using it...and were kind of lost. The attendant was useless. Total fail. I'm watching...and making notes...

I've seen these at gigs but never really even thought of offering this type of thing. But now that you mention it... Where do you find the equipment, what do you charge, and what is the best way to advertise?

I purchased my Booth after doing lots of research on size, portability, ease of use and profitability and found the Open Air Photo Booth. My price ranges from $600 to $1,200. Since this is my first year doing it I advertise on Yahoo & Google for now, and hopefully afterwards build referrals.

Although in SoCal, it seems that everybody is getting into the photo booth biz. How are you doing at standing out in a crowded field?

I'm doing goggle adwords, doing some free events around town, getting involved with local business networking groups, putting a local ad in community magazines. I'm doing OK considering my booth is already paid for and I might be buying my 2nd one soon. I just hope this Photo Booth stuff doesn't fade off like the Chocolate fountain will.
But I love it! So much fun and the photos are hilarious.

I'm seeing more and more photo booths in the weddings I shoot. Seems like the popularity of them have grown, it gives the guest something to do besides standing around the open bar.
