I just upgraded my Canon GL2 camera's to the Sony FX1000's. I bought them used both on Ebay. I have my first wedding shoot on these cams this weekend. I have been playing with my camera's and for some reason, I can't get them to match up...color wise. I went thru the menu and matched up all the settings, but nothing seems to help. There is one camera that is darker than the other. Can't figure it out. Help?
Also...what is the best settings to prepare for a church wedding? Any tip/suggestions will help!!!

I have the FX1000 - I bought it new a few years ago. Since you are a new user here, I don't know your background.

I assume you already have done this but the best method would be to use the zebra stripes and expose the extra same scene correctly manually then download the footage from each camera to the computer and see if they match. Using the same camera model in a church from different angles will give you different exposures (especially if one scene is backlit with windows).

If they don't match using the zebra stripes then something is wrong with one of the cams. Since one camera seems darker than the other, perhaps you could set up both cameras in a dark setting, connect them to a monitor or HDTV and adjust the exposure on both until they match and then jot down the difference in the gain setting. So if one is off by a few notches you could always compensate during a shoot. For example, Cam 2 may need +6 db gain as compared to Cam 1. It's certainly not an ideal method. By the way, generally try not to go over +12 db in gain otherwise you'll get lots of grain in your footage.

I don't necessarily use any special settings for my camera for weddings. I don't use any presets. The auto white balance does a decent job after several minutes inside a room (I rarely manually white balance anymore). I will use the manual focus and manual exposure ring during the ceremony (actually the entire day), but I will use auto-focus for the processional.

Like the other response I don't play with picture profiles on the FX1000 instead preferring to adjust the image in post. I would suggest setting both cameras to factory defaults and then do a side by side comparison shooting the same setting (ie of fruit) then compare on the pc. If you are using the the LCD screen as a judge of brightness, make sure both are at the same levels (I assume though you have done this already).

And just for another perspective, I always set my white balance manually. Doesn't matter if it is my FX1000, AX2000 or my DSLR.
