Try this instead: Re-record the audio from your mini disk and route the signal path through a 1/3 octave equalizer. Some trial and error adjusting of the EQ will allow you to suppress the annoying hum, perhaps eliminate it. This is far better, in my opinion, that compromising the ceremony vows with additional noise. The hum probably came from your microphone. Inside the mic cable are three wires - the positive and negative wires are surrounded by either a wire or foil wrap. This wrap is known as a "shield", as its function is to "shield" the positive wnd negative wires from radio frequency magnetic fields. These magnetic fields can become part of audio signal. They are easily identified by the hum they create. The most common magnetic field is caused by electric power cables which, if too close to mic cables, will introduce a hum. Since electrical service in the USA is delivered at frequency of 60 cycles, the hum is low frequency at 60Hz. : At a recent Wedding, my mini-disc recorded the vows and a hum along with them. I have "somewhat" removed it but not intirely so Im thinking of putting some insturmental music behind it. Has anyone done this? is this a no-no? thoughts? comments? Thank you, Carol
