I don't think there'd be an issue unless you have a client with a VERY old, like I'm talking 1st generation DVD player. I imagine none of those even work anymore at all, heh. AC3 uses a good compression algorithm, so the only time anymore that I'd opt for a PCM format would be if I were making an audio DVD, like a concert recording or something. And even then, it would take a LOT of convincing for me to not use AC3 and record and encode in surround sound.
