JonyJib 2: Item #136A
The all new JonyJib2 Modular Camera Crane is a
culmination of suggestions and improvements made to the original JonyJib Jr
and JonyJib 12-18' jibs. You'll be pleased with its design and simplicity,
and the low price.
The JonyJib 2 comes in four sizes: 9, 12, 15 & 18 foot
versions. It can also be fitted with optional accessories like the
MotorHead 20 or 30 motorized pan & tilt unit, a motorized focus and zoom
unit for broadcast lenses, a ZR1000 LANC zoom & focus unit and an LCD
monitor -- all neatly connected via an
optional wiring kit, power distribution
box and an Anton Bauer Gold
mounting plate.
What sets this crane apart from others is its ability to
telescope and nest within itself. This crane’s modularity is built on
its lightweight, octagonal, aluminum, black powder coated 4
foot extension sections which start at the tail of the jib, with the
largest diameter, and progressively get smaller as you get closer to the
camera. The best part is, the arm breaks down to fit into an
optional 48” tripod bag or case. The pivot, camera platform, rear
control center and miscellaneous items fit into an optional Pelican
1650 carrying case.
The JonyJib2 is expandable from 9’ (2 sections) to
18’ (5 sections) in 3’ increments. Each extension tube is
4’ long giving a 1’ overlap between sections. Since each section
slides out, pulled from the previous sections, you may store unused sections
in the tail as ballast weight. This lightens your counterweight demand. You
can buy as few or as many sections as you need, then purchase more sections
when you need them.
The pivot point is pre-drilled to mount the Anton Bauer
Gold Mount plate kit that feeds a 12 volt power distribution box at the
tail. The distribution box feeds 12 volt power to the motorized pan &
tilt head, the monitor and the camera. The pivot point is also
pre-drilled to mount an optional monitor platform for 8-9” CRT style
monitors. The adjustable camera platform leveling tether is also anchored at
the pivot point.
The camera platform is designed to over-sling or under-sling the motorized
pan & tilt head without any changes. Just attach it ‘either
way’ and there’s 360 degree pan & tilt clearance.
The main arm and extension sections are aluminum while the pivot point,
camera platform and rear control center are steel. They're all powder coated
with a cobalt black finish.
When it's time to go higher than 18', upgrade to the JonyJib Pro.
Just beef up the pivot for the extra weight and add up to 4
more 3 foot extensions to reach up to 30 feet.

JonyJib PRO: Item#136C
Here's the premier professional camera jib, expandable to a
full 30 foot height!
The JonyJib PRO is known for its dramatic and fluid
shots from all angles. This jib is great for shooting car dealer lots,
exterior home shots or television commercials. Unlike the "toy"
jibs, this rig gets you up where the big boys get, for a fraction of the
cost!
JonyJib introduced the JonyJib Pro Modular Camera Crane at NAB 2006 where it received a warm reception.
The 21-foot, fully operational version was on display. It was also fitted
with the MotorHead 30 motorized pan & tilt unit, ZR2000 zoom & focus
unit, and an LCD monitor, all powered by a 12 volt Anton Bauer Gold Mount
via a handy power distribution box.
Like the JonyJib2, this crane telescopes and nests within itself. The arm
breaks down to fit into a 48” tripod bag or case. The pivot, camera
platform, rear control center and miscellaneous items all fit into a Pelican
1650 case. Check out the accessories list below!

|
| Frequently Asked
Questions |
| |
| Do JonyJibs come
with everything you need to start shooting? |
| All you need to add
is your 100mm bowl tripod (like a Bogen 3192) and spreader or instead of a
spreader we recommend a heavy duty dolly like a Bogen 3067. Then add
counterweights and your camera. |
| |
| How do I balance
the JonyJib on my tripod? |
| Once you mount the
jib on the tripod bowl, you can level the heavy duty hub with a bubble
level. Then just add the proper amount of 'flat steel' plate weights to
balance your gear. (we do not recommend the plastic weights filled with
concrete) You can get flat steel plate weights from most sporting goods
stores. |
| |
| What is the
difference between the two JonyJibs you offer? |
| The primary
difference is the length of the reach of each arm. All JonyJib height
measurements are based a on 48" base or tripod height and are measured
from the floor or ground to the middle of the camera lens. The JonyJib 2
comes in heights of 9, 12, 15 and 18 feet. Jony Jib Pro reaches 30 feet in
height. They each support different camera weights as well. The longer jibs
hold lighter payloads while the shorter support heavier gear. All jibs mount
to the tripod and camera the same way. All include the Rear Control Center
and the Mounting Hub. |
| |
| What if I want
to move the camera independent of the jib movement? |
| These are called
compound moves. This is accomplished via a "hot head" or commonly
called a motorized pan & tilt head. We offer the Bescor MP101 for
smaller cameras (up to 6 lbs.), a MotorHead20 which carries cameras up to 20
lbs and a MotorHead 30 which carries cameras up to 30 lbs.. These units
allow you to move the camera independent of the direction of the jib
movement. These give you very interesting and professional
shots! |
| |
| How do I see what
the camera sees and control zoom & focus? |
| The Rear Control
Center (RCC) gives complete one or two hand control of your JonyJib. The RCC
can be underslung or overslung, whichever you are most comfortable with. It
provides mounts for an LCD monitor, zoom/focus control and pan/tilt control
all in a compact, handsome and easy to manuever design. This unit will hold
a 5-6" LCD monitor that you connect to the camera's video output. If
you own a Sony or Canon DV camera with LANC then you can add the ZR1000 LANC
controller for focus, zoom and other camera controls. There is also an
available monitor mounting platform that holds a 5" - 8" CRT style
production monitor. For larger ENG style cameras you will need the ZR2000
zoom and focus controls that operate a variety of Canon or Fujinon
professional ENG style lenses. |
| |
| How do all the
cables get from the camera to the rear of the jib? |
| All JonyJibs come
with dual-purpose foam jackets that slide onto the round lower control arm
that runs the length of the jib. The foams' primary purpose is to pad the
lower portion of the jib to soften any contact with a crew member or
spectator that gets too close to the arm in motion. The top portion of the
jackets remain open and provide a great channel for your cable loom to rest
in. The jibs also come with ample One-Wrap Velcro strips to secure the
cables in place along this channel. |
| |
| How does it
attach to my tripod? |
| Just remove your
tripod head with 100mm ball intact. Slide the jib's mounting hub back into
the bowl and screw the handle back in the bottom. Level and tighten the
handle securely. Then you're ready to bolt the front of the arm on. (4 bolts
and 1 hitch pin) |
| |
| How does it
attach to my camera? |
| We provide you with
a 1/4" "knob bolt" which is fine for most cameras. For larger
cameras you may request a 3/8" threaded version. If you're purchasing a
motorized head then they are fitted with a 1/4" adjustable
thread. |
