News from NAB – Cinema Camera for $3000
Blackmagic Design introduced their new BMD Cinema Camera. It features a 2.5K image sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range! It includes a built-in SSD recorder, open standard uncompressed RAW and compressed file formats, compatibility with quality EF and ZF mount lenses, LCD touchscreen monitoring plus metadata entry.

The camera includes DaVinci Resolve color correction software, UltraScope which provides accurate Waveform, Vectorscope, and Histogram scopes on any computer connected by Thunderbolt.

The camera will be available in July for $3000.

Camera Obscura Available For Free
The term “camera obscura” is Latin. “Camera” means a vaulted chamber/room and “obscura” means dark. So the phrase translates as “darkened chamber/room.” It is a optical technique
that uses a darkened room with a small hole to the outside. The hole acts like a lens and projects an image of what is in front of the room inside the room. It does not have to be a room. A box will also work. Artists used the technique to project an image on paper and trace a very accurate version of the image. Read more.
